Bears and birdfeeders; winter trips
Due to the mild weather, bears have not yet gone into their winter dens. While the strong apple crop may keep them busy elsewhere, it is best to keep your birdfeeders in a while longer to avoid temptations that could suburbanize our bears.
Current Conservancy members will soon receive our colorful card listing winter trips. Thanks to KLG Financial Solutions for sponsoring this season’s schedule of adventures!
Celebrations All Around
On Tuesday, Dec. 1 at 1pm, we’ll be celebrating the conservation of the Mill Pond Forest and Huggins Trail Access. Join us at the top of Moose Mountain Lodge Road (and dress warmly!).
On Wednesday, Dec. 2 at 4:30-6pm, we’ll celebrate the close of another successful year with the annual meeting of our membership at the Howe Library. All are welcome.
Hunting Season – be safe out there
Safety orange is now in fashion for people and their pets until Dec. 15. The Balch Hill hunting policy (archery only) is posted here. General state rules apply at the Mayor-Niles Forest and at Greensboro Ridge (N of Silent Brook Trail only).
Summer is here!
Time to get outside and enjoy all that Hanover has to offer. If you visit one of our natural areas every week to walk the trails and discover their secrets, we’ll keep you busy until Labor Day! Get started HERE
