On Earth Day, a hardy group of 10 volunteers cleared much of the path to our gem in northeastern Hanover: the Tunis Brook Mill Lot. Find photos and upcoming chances to lend a hand here. Join us on Sunday, April 29 from 1-3 pm to finish the job and visit this special place.

- Tunis Brook Mill Lot, 1-4pm. Calling all those with clippers, loppers or chainsaws & moxie to clear the overgrown path to this gem in NE Hanover, site of 18th c. mill. Refreshments.
- King Bird Sanctuary, 1-3pm. We’ll be tidying up the new wildlife plantings and pruning back competitors.

Trails Softening ~ Bears Out Soon!
This week’s unusually warm temperatures mean muddy trails. It’s best to stay off the trails until they dry out and harden up. An exception is the Quinn Trail at Mink Brook Nature Preserve.
Time to bring in your bird feeders! State biologists expect the bears weren’t fooled by this mild winter any more than we were, and ask that you bring in your bird feeders now, and don’t wait until April 1.
Ray School Trip Is On – No Moonlight Hike
This morning’s unexpected blanket of snow helped us change our minds quickly! Our Ray School Family Snowshoe Hike is ON – meet at the school parking lot at 1pm. Bring snowshoes if you have them; extras may not be available.
The Valley News calendar incorrectly advertised last Saturday’s Slade Brook moonlight hike for tonight. There will be no repeat trip tonight.
